Deborah is a qualified corporate and commercial UK lawyer who has enjoyed a varied career in law for over two decades. She has held significant General Counsel roles at Rolls Royce PLC and Siemens PLC. She has worked with high growth technology startups, accelerator programs and tech giants on the US East Coast before returning to the UK to take up the role of Chief Legal Officer at a London based LawTech SaaS company. She currently represents a large family office in the Middle East.
Her other roles include being former chair of Evince Technology Limited (a venture backed company developing breakthrough electron devices using synthetic-diamond), a mentor for the Santander Breakthrough Business Leaders’ Programme, an advisor to the Women's Economic Imperative (as a response to the Call to Action of the United Nations), a director of The Link Tees Valley Ltd, an advocate for the British American Business Council of New England and a non-executive director for a number of high growth tech companies.
For over a decade Deborah has built teams and products for companies looking to innovate within the legal profession and has provided legal and strategic advice to thousands of startups, business angels and private investment funds . As a result of her extensive work in this ecosystem her attention has become focussed on gender inequality in STEM with a particular focus on discrimination in technology companies, gender bias in venture capital and the very real challenges women entrepreneurs face when trying to access finance.
Deborah has keynoted at University of Durham, Google, Harvard, IBM and MIT and has personally raised over £1billion in startup funding for teams around the world. She is passionate about private investment, M&A, artificial intelligence and disruptive technology.
